Dear WVSL Families:
Many thanks to you all for your patience during these very trying times. We hope that you are all staying safe and well.
The WVSL Board of Directors had been hoping to resume our Spring season. We know the players in our West Valley community would have loved to get back on the field and be outside with their friends. We set a deadline of Memorial Day weekend to make a decision on the remainder of the Spring season in the hopes that we would have a better idea of the pandemic's trajectory & local government's lifting of restrictions. Unfortunately we have come to that deadline and we still have no clear understanding of when the fields will be available & safe for our community to use. As a result, it is with great sadness that we have made the decision to cancel the remainder of our Spring season.
SO - what does that mean for the Registration Fees you paid for Spring? Please understand that in order to provide our members with a high-quality soccer experience most of our labor & expenses are incurred and paid before the 1st game ball is kicked. These costs include permits, building teams & schedules, coach compliance & training, field lining, uniforms, paperwork, etc. Our field lease and permit commitments represent a large expenditure that is incurred whether we are playing or not. Giving up our fields would mean giving up on playing soccer in the future. We do realize that you all did not get the full spring program experience. It is our hope that things will open up in the summer, & field access permitting, we will do whatever is possible to facilitate your use of Pierce for unofficial practices & scrimmages on summer weekends. If there is interest, we'd also like to provide some evening clinics, led by the professional Real SoCal coaching staff.
We would like to offer you:
* a $40 TRANSFERABLE coupon via email to apply as a credit toward Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 Registration. If your child has aged-out or wishes to sit out the Fall/Spring, we would allow you to transfer the credit to another player. More information on this process will be given with the credit email you will receive soon
* A donation receipt for the value of your Spring credit coupon. We are a 501c3 non-profit and would use these funds primarily to support Player Scholarships for future seasons. We know there are families that will need assistance this year, and we want every player with the desire to play to be given that opportunity.
We are now looking forward to the Fall season and the necessary adjustments that will need to be made to comply with social distancing & safety guidelines. In addition to adhering to all federal, state, and local government recommendations (as well as any defined by our US Soccer & Cal South governing bodies), we plan to spread the fields out with much wider sidelines. We will also be staggering the start times for our games to give families an opportunity to leave the field before the next groups arrive.
We will be opening up the Fall registration June 1 - you will be receiving an email with more information very soon.
Since the Fall season is dependent on government regulations & loosening of restrictions for on-field access, we will only be accepting personal checks as payment for the Fall season. We will hold those checks and not cash them until/unless we get the green light from the schools that the fields will be available (We will send out an email to let everybody know if/when we are cashing the checks).
If we need to cancel the Fall 2020 season, we will not cash your checks. Your Spring 2020 coupon would then be available for you to use in Spring 2021 or Fall 2021.
