Why are you adding the team referee requirement?

There are two reasons for us adding this requirement to our program

1. Based on the size of our program and the number of referees needed per weekend to help with these games it has become impossible to recruit the number of referees needed. Obviously only having the requirement for 3 games will not cover all of our refereeing needs. We are still committed to finding referees to volunteer, for community service, and for pay.

2. One of our biggest problems with refereeing is when we do find somebody willing to come out and referee for us they referee for the day and then tell us they have no interest in coming back due to the behavior of some of our parents and coaches.

We are hoping that once every team has a certified referee they will realize how hard it is to referee a game and be more respectful to the referee on the field.
