Richmond, VA – July 18, 2023 – Congratulations to our Boys 2010 and 2008 teams for winning the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) national championship today at the ECNL National Finals.
The Boys 2010 ECNL team, coached by Milan Radovic, prevailed over the Dallas Texans in a penalty shootout 2-1, after tying 1-1, to secure the BU14 division national championship. The win capped an outstanding regular season as the team won the Southwest Conference championship with 17 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. Incredibly, the team won the championship by advancing through PKs in four straight knockout games.
Likewise, the Boys 2008 ECNL team completed their impressive run by defeating the North Virginia Academy (NVA) 3-0 to win the BU16 national championship. Led by Brian Kleiban, the team exhibited outstanding resilience and a relentless drive for success, climbing from a second place finish in the Southwest Conference (16-3-3). These two championship wins are a testament to the teams' hard work and dedication, as well as the strong support system provided by their families and the club.
Five of the club’s six Boys ECNL teams qualified for the playoffs. Four of those teams advanced to the knockout round of 16, with three of those teams advancing to the National Finals (final eight) in Virginia this past week.
“The success of our ECNL teams reflects the depth of talent throughout our boys program and the outstanding coaches leading those teams,” said Terry Davila, Boys ECNL Director. "I want to congratulate our players and coaches on their accomplishments. We should also recognize the fantastic support from our club leadership. And, most importantly, I offer a heartfelt thank you to our families, who have sacrificed so much to support their children in their championship journey."
We congratulate all of the players, coaches, and families who have contributed to these victories. These two national championships mark the club's 7th and 8th national titles in our history.
